Rod Jackson – Management Committee Member

Rod is a Civil Engineer by profession, now retired. Throughout his career he worked predominantly in the water / sanitary engineering field both in Australia and internationally. In Australia he worked for the Commonwealth and Northern Territory Governments and also the Brisbane City Council / Brisbane water. Rod has more than 15 years international experience with non-profit organisations, predominantly World Vision and have undertaken both emergency relief and long-term development projects in over 30 countries. A significant amount of his experience has been at senior and executive management levels.

My international work with non-profit organisations arose from a desire to contribute to improving the lives of people less fortunate than himself. I found the work fulfilling and consider it a privilege to have been involved in assisting communities impacted by disasters in a number of countries, including the Ethiopian Famine in the 1980s, the Indonesian Tsunami in 2005 and the Ukraine conflict where he worked in 2016-17. This involvement has shown Rod that while we can never do enough to alleviate the suffering of those in need, everything we can do is appreciated by those we try to help.

A desire to contributing to bettering the lives of others continues in Rod’s post-paid-work life. He maintains active connections in the international development community, and for the past several years has been pleased to be a member of the KENG Governance Committee.
