(And how to get qualified at no cost in Logan City!)

Hungry for a new career?

Have fun learning new skills with a FULLY SUBSIDISED Certificate II in Hospitality at Kingston East Neighbourhood Group.

You love to cook!

If you love expressing your creativity through food, then a career in Hospitality is the place for you. You’ll also be able to transfer those skills you learn, either through study or on the job, into your personal interactions as well. And a good cook is always surrounded by family and friends who love to eat!

You appreciate a good cup of coffee!

Whether you’re a Latte lover, can’t go past a sprinkle of chocolate on your Cappuccino, or love a dollop of ice cream in your Affagato – Why not learn how to make the perfect brew yourself? With the barista training included in a Certificate II in Hospitality you’ll learn how to make all the different types of coffee.

You want to find work fast!

There’s currently a critical staff shortage in the hospitality sector and our Certificate II in Hospitality can fast track you into the industry before the end of the year. Job vacancy data from August 2022 showed 3,928 hospitality jobs were available in the Greater Brisbane Area. Our course takes just 9 weeks and equips you with the qualifications local employers are looking for like Responsible Service of Alcohol, Barista Training, First Aid and Food Safety and Preparation. Plus, we guarantee to find you work placement and assist you in finding ongoing paid work and in learning any other skills you need to be job ready – like resume writing and interview skills.

You want a job close to home!

Everyone has to eat! So, there’s no shortage of local employment opportunities in your area. Ditch the long commutes into the city and work in your community instead.

Or you want to work and travel!

Hospitality is the universal language. No matter where you are in the world, the skills you learn in a Certificate II in Hospitality will be in demand. And if you’ve ever dreamt of having an international working holiday/adventure then these skills could make that dream a reality. The world is your oyster!

You like flexibility in your working hours!

Hospitality is a 24/7 industry. Which means that no matter what time of day you prefer working, there will be opportunities available. Flexibility in schedules makes juggling the work/life balance easier and is a great industry to get into if you want part-time or casual work while the kids are at school.

You love meeting new people!

Every day is different in Hospitality, and you interact with customers and colleagues from a diverse range of backgrounds. In fact, socialising is one of the biggest parts of your job! Whether it’s bonding with co-workers or chatting with customers, if you’re a social butterfly then Hospitality is the industry for you.

You want a career with unlimited pathways for growth!

The hospitality industry is huge! It includes everything from food service to tourism, event planning, travel and entertainment! The skills you gain in a Certificate II in Hospitality set you up with solid foundations for further study and career advancement. What is Skilling Queenslanders for Work?

Our program is funded by the Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW) initiative.

The Queensland Government has announced $320 million over 4 years, with $80 million each year ongoing, to continue the Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative. The initiative will assist up to 15,000 disadvantaged Queenslanders each year to gain skills, qualifications and experience to enter and stay in the workforce.

Skilling Queenslanders for Work funds training and support for unemployed or underemployed people, with a focus on young people (including those in and transitioned from out-of-home care), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, mature-age jobseekers, women re-entering the workforce, veterans and ex-service personnel, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

That means that community-based organisations like Kingston East Neighbourhood Group can deliver tailored support and assistance to participants to help them gain nationally recognised skills and qualifications. This includes a mix of career advice, job preparation skills, foundation skills and individual case management
